Without good estimates, these types of recycle problems can take several hundred iterations and several hours to solve. The trick is to eliminate as many of the recycle streams as possible. This can be accomplished in several ways:
1) Use reference streams.
2) Employ a user defined sequence that bypasses the HX units until the material balance is deternined.
3) Use a dummy flash to determine HX temperatures and duties and then refer these results to determine the main recycle loop.
